Manufactured as flooring, some tiles should be turned 90° to get an homogeneous surface.
There are very lots of varieties resp. sorts under several different trade names (Marina Pearl + Blue Pearl GT, etc.). The deeper the blue, the higher the price. At time ( 2002 ) there are working about 30 quarries. Blue Pearl is very popular in Germany today and you will find it in nearly every supplier's stock.

A famous fossil site too, over 700 species, insects, fishes, and the famous archaeopteryx.
Technical and physical characteristics: Bulk density: 2,55 -2,70 kg/dm³, bending strength: 28,6 N/mm², compression breaking load: 215 N/mm², water absorption: 0,27 - 1,51 vol.-%, abrasion resistance: 14,8 - 15,0 cm³/50 cm² (according to Boehme), not frost resistant, polishing possible.
Solnhofen is a worldwide famous fossil site ( about 770 types, including the archaeoptery lithographica ).

Mean ultimate loads for FZP-Anchor (Type M8, drillhole depth hv = 15 mm): tensile load: 3,8 kN (according to test results of the test laboratory at the Fischerwerke)
Uses: Ornamental stone, mostly inside. Volakas (2002) actually is said to be the most-spread Greece marble.
